Fountain Of Youth: The Benefits Of Argan Oil

This rare oil is highly valued because of its wide array of uses. It is highly priced owing to its limited production. Its recognized cosmetic benefits have made its demand ever increasing in the world. Argan oil is gaining popularity as a "miracle ingredient" in the Western product industry.

Argan Oil and your skin

Argan's many benefits start with the fact that it provides every healthy thing you want for your skin. Thanks to its Omega-6 and Vitamin F content. Fatty acids like Omega-6 and Vitamin F are said to benefit the skin in that they provide moisture. It also helps in healing old, damaged skin and turns it into a new, restored and vibrant look. You can even see it work on scars, specifically acne scars. Another thing by which Argan Oil works on the skin is it does not clog pores. You will be sure that there is no stinging or burning with the use of this ever dependable product for your skin. Others might notice the changes, no more acne and redness, no more blemishes, just glowing and smooth skin that radiates from within. It has extemely high levels of Vitamin E and 80% fatty acids which make it perfect for healing many skin ailments as well as protecting against premature aging caused by oxidation. Healing and Protection The active substances called triterpenoids that occur in Argan oil offer amazing skin protection benefits. These include tissue healing (scars), anti-inflammatory, sun-protective and disinfectant properties. The oil contains 80% unsaturated fatty acids and is more resitant to oxidation that olive oil. Argan oil also contains 0.8% unsaponifiables (a large group of compounds also known as plant sterols or sterolins). Sterolins improve skin metabolism, reduce inflammation and promote excellent moisture retention.

Anti-aging

Argan is considered an effective anti-aging oil due to properties such as the high levels of vitamin E. Besides cooling and soothing inflammation, it is also reputed to help wrinkles by restoring the skin's hydro-lipid layer. Protein rich Argan oil is very good for the elasticity of skin. It strengthens the protein bonding structures in the skin which works to tighten the skin and make it look fresh. One of the most amazing facts about Argan oil is that along with dry skin it is equally good for oily skin. Sebum is an oily substance secreted by sebaceous glands which keeps the skin wet and protects against dryness, but its excess secretion is bad for the skin. Argan oil regulates the secretion of sebum and keeps it to manageable level.

Medicinal Properties

Argan oil contains rare plant sterols (schottenol and spinasterol), not found in other oils. It is believed that these phytosterols are unique in their combination and that there are no other vegetable oils with a comparable phytosterol composition. In general phytosterols reduce inflammation and help block cholesterol absorption from the intestines. They also show anti-cancer properties. Argan oil facilitates digestion by increasing the concentration of pepsin in the gastric juice. It contains flavonoids that act as a natural anti-inflammatory both internally and externally. The oil is considered highly beneficial for arthritic or rheumatic conditions. It is helpful for lowering cholesterol levels, stimulating circulation and strengthening the body`s natural immunity. It is used to soothe skin ailments like chickenpox, acne, psoriasis, and dry eczema. It is also used to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy.

Argan Oil for Hair

To use Argan oil as a hair conditioner rub a small amount of oil into the palm of your hands then into the hair starting at the ends. If you suffer from a dry scalp and dandruff, massage Argan oil into the roots too. For dry hair, leave the oil for more than half an hour and if your hair is very dry leave it overnight; finally wash the Argan oil out with a gentle shampoo. Repeat these steps once or twice per week for silky, smooth, glossy, irresistible hair.
