The Beauty Of Fall And Winter

November is here! That means all kinds of goodies. Pumpkin pies, apple cider, peppermint hot chocolates, Thanksgiving feasts and my favorite... egg nog lattes! Oh how I love November for all these wonderful treats that compliment the season. But that's not all we get this time of year.

For many people, the cold clear days of fall and winter in the Pacific Northwest can bring more than just a rosy glow to the cheeks..(that's me!)
The weather outside may be unsightly, but your skin doesn't have to be. As the temperature drops, we clamor to our heaters and the battle for healthy skin is on. Especially for those who suffer from painful skin conditions. Dry air takes away the thin layer of oil that traps moisture in the skin, flaring those common itchy and painful conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and severe dry skin.

You can minimize these conditions by a few simple steps. This is also an ideal time to book a fall/winter facial to help you get started. Anyone of my facials will benefit you in many ways but I highly recommend choosing the Morocaan Facial, Geisha or Pumpkin facial to prepare your skin for the harsh weather coming our way. Not only will your skin look and feel amazing, you're setting it up to adjust as the cold weather hits. If you really want to keep the dry, flaky, wrinkly skin at bay, you need to give it a big drink of yummy goodness and I have just the potions for you!
All of my products are made from 100% natural ingredients from around the world. For those of you who feel intimidated by choosing a facial you're not sure about. That's okay, the European facial is perfect for you since it is a customized facial.

You can book online at www.djaouida.com, and if you are a first time visitor then you get to take advantage of my introductory pricing for your first visit!

Here are a few at beauty tips you can do at home to start protecting your skin from those wrinkles and cracks that will appear before you know it Remember how good your skin looked and felt during the summer with all the vitamin d and humidity? Well, now you can keep that going with just a few simple steps.

Cleansing

For facial cleansing you should use a cream based cleanser. The milkier the better. The lactic acid will provide an extra boost of moisture! Creamy cleansers generally are more calming to the skin so they are ideal for those who tend to get red or irritated skin during the winter months.

Exfoliate

A gentle exfoliator such as alpha hydroxy acid can help remove the accumulation of cells on the top layer skin, while at the same time hydrating the skin to maintain a healthy state. Alpha hydroxy acids can also be used on heels, where the dead layer of cells forming the dry cracked skin need to be sloughed off. Another gentle way to exfoliate is to make a honey and sugar scrub. This is super easy and extremely affordable, plus it's totally natural and with the honey being an anti-bacterial and moisturizer, you are adding a bonus to your skin. A little goes a long way so you don't need to make a whole lot if you're just
using on your face. If for instance you want to use for a body scrub, then just triple the amount used for the facial scrub.

Note: Always moisturize after exfoliation, the pores are open and can receive product to do its job more effectively.

Honey and Sugar Scrub

For the face:
1 Tablespoon honey
1 Tablespoon sugar
mix with a couple drops of water or coconut oil

Gently scrub onto freshly washed skin in little circles all over the face and neck.
Rinse with warm water

For the body:
3 Tablespoons of honey
3 Tablespoons of sugar
mix with a tablespoon water or coconut oil

Gently scrub onto freshly washed skin from shoulders to your toes
Rinse with warm water

Quench Dry Skin

To stay hydrated, you must moisturize several times a day. Because of the humidity plummet the skin's natural moisturizers will dip and cause slower cell turnover which then makes it harder for the skin to slough off dry skin cells.. hence the flakiness begins. Fun huh? Don't worry, this article is here to help educate you and get you on the right track to maintaining healthy skin!

Whether you have eczema, psoriasis, or severe dry skin (known as xerosis), you need to replace any moisture the dry air steals away. The best time to do this is right after bathing, while your pores are open and can receive the maximum moisture.

Get yourself a good hydrating toner. Spraying on a hydrating toner will also help to replenish your skin throughout the day  and you can spray right over makeup! Go for fragrance-free products for sensitive skin types.

Slather on the Sunscreen

No, sunscreen isn't just for summertime. Winter sun-combined with snow glare can still damage your skin. Try applying a broad

-spectrum sunscreen to you face and your hands (if they are exposed) about 30 minutes before going outside. Reapply frequently if you
stay outside a long time.
